Too Faced “The Power of Makeup” By Nikkie Tutorials

Hello Everyone!

Nikkie Tutorials is a very popular Beauty Guru, that is known for her uniqueness and creativity. She has collaborated with Too Faced Cosmetics to create The Power of Makeup collection. It is a collection because it includes more than just an eyeshadow palette. I was super excited about this collection so I wanted to share my honest thoughts on it…

  • $56
  • Beautiful Packaging
  • Includes: 9 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, bronzer, highlighter, purple mascara, liquid liner, glitter, shadow insurance base

Packaging

The collection came in a small rectangular box with the palette and a little bag inside of it. The pink and black cheetah print is so cute and so Nikkie Tutorials. Everything came perfectly packaged. I was pretty much sold just on the packaging alone!

The Palette

The actual palette consist of 9 eyeshadow, 2 blushes, a bronzer, and a highlighter. There are 4 matte and 5 shimmery eyeshadows in the palette. I think the eyeshadows are super pigmented but they aren’t creamy. The shadows are a little dry, therefore I find them hard to blend out and a little chalky. Comparing the eyeshadow to Kylie Cosmetics, Makeup Geek, or even Too Faced normal eyeshadows these shadows are definitely lacking. They have a dry texture to them, which is not normal for Too Faced’s usual eyeshadow formula.

The blushes in this palette are awesome. They are super pigmented and creamy soft texture. One is a light orange and the other is a true pink. Even though the blushes are pigmented, I do feel like they would not work for deeper skin tones. I understand that Nikkie Tutorials has a lighter skin tone but I think it would have been nice to cater to all skin tones. That leads me into the bronzer in this palette, it will not work at all for me. It is extremely light, and would only work for lighter skin tones.

The biggest disappointment in this palette is the highlighter. Nikkie Tutorials is known for her beaming highlight and glowy for days makeup. But this highlighter is not good. It is very chalky, dry, and glittery. It is the same formula of the eyeshadow in this palette. When I applied it to my face, it just looked awful. There was no beam of light, it just looked as if I applied a white powder on my face. It was very disappointing…

My Final Thoughts:

Overall, I am not too happy with this collection. For the price and because it’s a Nikkie Tutorials collaboration, I had super high expectations. I think the collection lacked in quality. The eyeshadows and the highlighter were such a disappointment. Also, the bronzer and blushes don’t fit a wide variety of skin tones. I don’t regret purchasing it because the packaging is flawless. It is limited edition, so once it is sold out it will not be coming back. I don’t think this is a must have makeup product. For it to be created by NIkkie Tutorials and Too Faced, I think it could’ve have been a lot better!

Kathleen Lights x Makeup Geek Highlighter Palette

Hi Loves!

Highlighting has been the new makeup trend lately!!! Everyone wants that “JLo Glow”

What is a Highlighter?

The goal of highlighting in general is to bring attention to the high points on your face. When you highlight something you are creating the elusion of bringing it forward. When it comes to powder highlighting, the common places to apply it are: tops of the cheeks, nose, under the eyebrow, inner part of the eye, top tip of the lip, and sometimes the forehead or chin. Just keep in mind, whatever you highlight you are drawing attention to it. For example, if you don’t like your nose, wouldn’t highlight your nose. I always say makeup is whatever you want it to be so don’t feel like you need to highlight just because it’s the new trend…

On to the palette…

  • $39
  • 3 full size pan highlighters
  • Super soft to the touch
  • Swatch lighter than appear in the pan
  • Pigmented
  • Not glittery, gives off a nice sheen

My Final Thoughts

I am in love with this palette! I am a huge fan of Makeup Geek, not only because their products are amazing, but because the brand’s integrity is amazing. Marlena (the creator of Makeup Geek) is such a down to earth person and makes sure that her brand includes everyone. They make colors that suit everyone and also their products are such good quality at a super affordable price. So when Makeup Geek decided to collab with Kathleen Lights, I had to check it out. Kathleen Lights is a huge beauty influencer, and this palette is one of her many collaborations.

The palette is perfect. All three shades are able to work on so many different skin tones. The packaging is nice and sleek. For the price of $39, you get amazing quality highlighters. One high end highlighter that can be purchased at Sephora is around $35 or more. For only $39, Makeup Geek gives you three. This brand continues to create great products!

Kylie Cosmetics Kyshadow: The Bronze Palette

20160826-75625214-1.jpg

Hey guys!

So today is going to be a review on the new eyeshadow palette created by Kylie Jenner. Her cosmetic line started out with Liquid lipsticks and has now expanded to glosses, eyeshadows, and more… There has been so much negativity surrounding this eyeshadow palette, so I wanted to give you guys my honest thoughts on it….

  • $42
  • 9 eyeshadows (2 shimmers and 7 mattes)
  • Size of your hand
  • Beautiful unique packaging
  • Does not have a mirror
  • Pigmented

Yay or Nay?

A 1000x Yayyyyy! I honestly can say I love this palette. As you guys can see by the swatches, this palette is extremely pigmented. Matte eyeshadows are typically harder to make super pigmented and also easy to blend, but she definitely made it happen. All 7 mattes are just staples to have in an eyeshadow palette.

I think the disappointment with this palette came from the 2 shimmers. The shimmery eyeshadows in this palette are not that special. I think Kylie made a palette that was completely her. If you pay attention to her makeup, she always has a matte eyeshadow look with a subtle pop on the lid. She doesn’t really wear colorful eyeshadow looks or any bold eye looks. Therefore, her first palette wouldn’t be something crazy. I think this palette is perfect for everyday and is a staple palette for anyone.

For reference this palette has the same components as the Manny Mua palette that he created with Makeup Geek. That palette was $45 in price so the Kylie palette is obviously cheaper. To be honest, I think people don’t want to like Kylie Cosmetics because it has the Kylie Jenner name on it. But I love most of her products, and I think the price of her products are typical for a high-end brand.

In all, I love this palette. I recommend the palette for anyone who wants an everyday neutral eyeshadow palette. The palette is currently sold out, but should be restocking soon…
